What Are the Booking Trends at River Valley for the Coming Season?

What have you to look forward to at River Valley these coming warmer months?

It is that time of year when our forward bookings really start to pick up. Whether by phone, email or direct from the website, increasing numbers of people are planning and booking their River Valley experience.

So what is trending so far this season?

Nice to see how many people are booking our ensuite rooms, obviously planning on a bit of comfort before and after a day adventuring. Also really popular is our one and only Family Room, an ensuite room that sleeps six. It is always great to see family groups around the Lodge, especially once the weather warms up and the big swimming hole just outside the Lodge is warm enough to take a dip.

For those travelling or holidaying on a budget, our bunk rooms also have solid bookings ahead.

On The River

As per normal, it is the Grade 5 section of the Rangitikei River that is the most popular booked adventure activity. This popularity is what you would expect, with this section of the Rangitikei River being one of the best half-day Grade 5 rafting trips available anywhere, bar none.

It is also pleasing to see the first Awesome Scenic Rafting Adventure bookings coming in. This trip offers a great fun day out on the river for all the family. The season for the Awesome Scenic Adventure opens in October, but we would suggest holding off with smaller children until the weather warms up more.

It is also heartening that a few more people are stepping out of their comfort zones and booking one of our multi-day river trips. These trips increase in popularity each year, with more people taking the break and experiencing what “river time” means. We have put a great deal of time into developing these multi-day trips and are passionate about the experience that you enjoy.

With the Horses at River Valley Stables

While I was going through the forward bookings for River Valley Stables trips this morning, there is one thing that stood out.

What stood out was the number of bookings that are orientated around riders wanting to learn more about interacting with their horse. An example of this is our Home on the Range package, which can be customised to incorporate rides over the hills, learning time in the arena, or natural horsemanship. This package also includes all meals and comfortable deluxe accommodation.

It is so inspiring to see that the hard work Nicola and her team have put into developing ways of introducing people to natural horsemanship is getting the recognition, via bookings, that it deserves.

The Stables is now open for the season.  We’ve already had some fantastic Spring rides, despite the very changeable weather.

Multi-Activity or Stay and Play Packages

Our multi-activity packages that include rafting, horseback riding, accommodation and meals have always been popular. However, new on the scene is our Stay and Play package.

We developed the Stay and Play package because before arrival; not everyone knows what adventure they would like to do. Stay and Play pre-books your accommodation and meals and gives you the choice of five different river or horse-based adventures. After talking to one of our staff you can decide which adventure is best for you.

With the Stay & Play package you can choose from 5 of our most popular adventure activities.

One Last Thing

One last thing. We are getting tremendous feedback about or meals. Thank you for that. It vindicates our decision to grow as much produce as we can through our on-site vegetable gardens.

See you over the summer.
