Do You Like Seeing What is Around the Next Bend?
If you are the type of family who wish to cover some river miles, who wants to see what lies around each bend, and still cram in a side hike, then this is the trip for you. A three day adventure holiday not to be missed.
While there will still be plenty of time for everyone to relax around camp, swimming, fishing, or simply reading a book, this trip will also introduce you to some beautiful Rangitikei River Canyons. This trip can also be a fantastic family adventure holiday.
Lord of the Rings Country
You will be forgiven for thinking that some of the canyon on the second days rafting looks like a scene from the Lord of The Rings Trilogy.
That is because with its spectacular cliffs and gorge, it was in fact used as a scene for the Fellowship of the Ring.

Brief Trip Itinerary
Night Before Departure:
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, load the gear onto the rafts and get kitted out with your equipment. Expect to be on the water sometime around mid morning.
This day on the river will include a side hike to the spectacular Ohutu Falls. Camp that night above the Mokai Canyon.
This day will see us journey through the Mokai Canyon and under the Mokai Gravity Canyon bungy bridge.
Camp this night – depending on river flow, will be either upstream or downstream of the Omatane Bridge.
Today the terrain around the river will open out for several hours to the Meetings of the Waters at Utiku, before (at higher flows only) we again enter another canyon. This canyon will take us through to Mangaweka, our alternative Take Out point.
Testimonials & Reviews
Scott Hatsuko & Mizuki
“We did a 3 day 2 night trip down the Rangitikei River in Feb. 4 families – 8 adults 8 kids aged between 8 and 12. It was such a fantastic experience! The guides were just outstanding with our children allowing them (and us!) to adventure and fully experience the river and all its fun whilst always adhering to professionalism and safety. A great way of connecting and playing together as a team with everyone involved. As well as the rapids being great fun we had inflatable kayaks, side walks to hidden waterfalls and canyons, bombing spots, water fights and even the raft made into a slippery slide! Campfires and great food in the evening to top it all off. We will definitely be back for more trips. I can’t recommend it enough DO THIS TRIP!!”
“Great trip with three other families , kids aged between 12 and 7. Two nights on the Rangitikei river- a really good family outdoor adventure. Our guides were amazing, very easy going, got on really well with the kids and made the trip lots and lots of fun – big thank you to Nathan, Eddie, Justin and Kurt.”
