Saddle Horse Care at River Valley Stables
One of the keys to a successful horse trekking business, other than looking after your clients, is looking after the horses. This may seem very obvious, and simple, but the realities of it are anything but.
Horse care is a combination of feeding, training, and veterinary care, to name just a few things that need to be thought about and attended to. What is especially critical though is the human factor.
What is the human factor? It is the guide who is aware of not only the clients needs, but is also attuned to the nuances of individual horses. Which horse is up for the day, who is a little down? Is that horse a little off colour? Has that other horse lost a bit of condition? And so on.
At River Valley Stables we never stop learning about these amazing animals.
What we intend to do with this page is post the occasional video of ongoing things that we are doing with the horses.
The Horse Dentist
First up is a visit form the horse dentist. Yes, even horses need occasional care from a dentist.
Sometimes an animal that seems to be losing condition is actually having a problem chewing grass.
The dentist with the use of a file trues up the horses teeth allowing it to better deal with a mouthful of grass.

The Horse Chiropractor Of course it is not only a horses teeth that need occasional attention. An athlete, or someone involved in manual labour or sport, can sometimes do themselves minor injury by putting a muscle out, or tweaking a joint.
This can necessitate a visit to a physiotherapist or chiropractor.
Well a horse is no different. Have a look at the Horse Chiropractor at work.
