River Valley Lodge, Cafe, Restaurant & Bar
Country Style Meals
At River Valley Lodge we major in traditional country style cooking.
This means mostly roast meals, but occasionally casseroles at night, with a mix of fresh seasonal vegetables. Entrees are normally soups, fresh salads, or selections of local cheeses and spreads.
Dinner during the winter is set menu, and served at a fixed time (7.00pm). We cook lamb, beef and chicken, with each meat alternating night to night. That is lamb one night, beef the next and so on.
Our chefs certainly know how to prepare extremely delicious desserts. Make sure to check out the dessert menu board, and prepare to indulge.

Our on site organic vegetable garden supplies many of our summer salad vegetables, ensuring freshness and taste.
During the summer, we often have BBQ lunches served out side overlooking the river, or a broad selection of Cafe style food from within the Lodge. Breakfast is your choice of continental or cooked.
We are open for casual dining, but we do require you to book ahead.

River Valley Staff
Tony and I and our group would like to compliment the Chef and your generosity for the great meal we had on the 6th November.
We would also like to thank Brian for coming down and giving us a talk about River Valley.
Most of our group had not heard of River Valley and were wondering on earth where we were taking them. They were pleasantly surprised, and I hope that you will get a spin off from the people that enquired at the counter.
The trip for us was extremely successful, have had wonderful comments, and now have a waiting list for the next tour when we can finalise dates.
Visiting the Bliss-Stick kayak factory, Moawhango, Timahanga and Pohokura were other highlights.
We are happy that it went off so well and we can see it taking off so we will be back for lunch again if you will have us.

Of all these though, the FOOD in particular was outstanding!
As you know, I recently (August 2010) brought my team from Rabobank to River Valley Lodge for a retreat and mini conference. The team are from Taranaki, Manwatu and Wanganui.
The biggest obstacle that would have prevented us from visiting River Valley was definitely location. My team are spread from New Plymouth to Feilding and are all pretty busy. The four hours travel for the New Plymouth team was particularly worth noting.
However, once at River Valley, we found a tranquil spot where we were well catered for. The rooms were ideal, the catering was above average and the hosts and staff treated and fed us really well! It was ideally located for the team as we had a farm visit near by with one of our clients.
Of all these though, the FOOD in particular was outstanding.
The other big benefits for the team in using River Valley were; - Privacy and exclusiveness of the venue – minimal sharing with outsiders,
- The personal attention paid to the team by the staff
- And the room in which we had our meeting which was beautifully situated and functional
I would totally recommend River Valley Lodge to other businesses for all the reasons above.
Your staff were fantastic and nothing was to much trouble. The icing on the cake was Riley arranging to have my shirt ironed over night!
I suspect you will get repeat business from us both as a team and from the guys individually.
