Multi Day Adventures
River Valley Multi Day Adventures are single activity holidays, most of which involve some sort of journey of discovery.
These holidays vary from simple overnight family rafting trips, to multi day expeditions, sometimes involving helicopters to transport us to beautiful remote places.
Most are river journeys, but several are by horseback. Most involve camping each night on a river bank, but several are based from either River Valley Lodge, or at a different Lodge each night.
Search for available holidays by selecting either "By Water" or "By Land" for the type of activity, then select "Multi Day & Multi Adventure" in the the "For" box. You may also select the duration if you only have a fixed amount of time in mind.
These trips are amongst our favorites.

I must admit that even though I loved the Grade 5 section of river, the scenic section is to die for!!
Hi Brian
We really didn't have any obstacles getting to RV. We knew about it and wanted to be there! Now, if we didn't have a rental car, I suppose we could have been out of luck. I'm not sure if you have a shuttle service, etc. So, I would say that the biggest obstacle is getting there.
Sometimes when traveling, you get a false sense of what the facilities are like and what is offered. That wasn't the case at River Valley. I would even venture to say that RV is the opposite. The area is beautiful and the accommodations are lovely. Your ensuited rooms were perfect!
I must admit that even though I loved the Grade 5 section of river, the scenic section is to die for!! It was amazingly beautiful and relaxing! Even the adventure seekers need a break and that scenic section was the "calm".
Gravity Canyon, the hiking just steps away (er, tramping), the scenery!! Did I experience more than expected, yes and no. Yes, I hadn't planned on being dropped off a bridge!! No, I always want to do it all!! In all seriousness, It was all wonderful, there are so many options for everyone. You can spend the morning running a crazy river and the afternoon playing Yahtzee by that same river.
I would Absolutely recommend River Valley! River Valley is a place for everyone. No set schedule (unless you have signed up for it), Varying rooms and prices for any budget, good food, and friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Thank you Brian, definitely a gem of a place.

One thing we really noticed though, was how friendly all the staff were, and how they put us at ease both horse trekking and rafting. In fact the guides were massive. All the staff seemed to be so close.
Paula and I decided to come to River Valley because I wanted to do the white water rafting, and Paula wanted to do the horse-trekking, so we were looking for a place that we could both do what we wanted to on a Weekend Getaway.
So looking on the internet we found River Valley, it had what we wanted, and was not too far from Hastings.
Originally there were going to be four of us, two could not come, however we will be going home and bringing them back with us next time.
We arrived in the afternoon, and that evening we went on a Sundowner Horse Ride. I've got to say that we found it a bit challenging. For some reason we thought we would be riding over flat paddocks, not up and down hills! However we were on great horses and the whole experience was just fine.
The next morning we went Grade 5 white water rafting which was a heap of fun. Tom our guide tipped us over in some flat water so we would know what it was like, luckily though we stayed upright through the rapids.
The jump off the big rock at the end was something that we never thought we could do, in fact if anybody had said we would be doing that earlier, we would have said – No Way!
Our accommodation was in one of the comfy Garden rooms with our own showers and toilet. When you get to a certain age, you just don't want to do the backpacker thing anymore.
One thing we really noticed though, was how friendly all the staff were, and how they put us at ease both horse trekking and rafting. In fact the guides were massive. All the staff seemed to be so close.
The food was really good too.
In fact it was just so good to get out of the city, into some fresh air, and to have no cell phone reception is a bonus.
When we recommend River Valley to our friends, we are going to tell them to go both rafting and horse trekking, it makes such a brilliant weekend, and is just such a good package. We simply rang up, an itinerary was emailed to us and we just went from there.
We just had such a grand time here.
